Fort Worth, TX, October 27, 2017 – Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) celebrated the official launch of its newly formed group, Women Empowered: CCA Networking (we-CCAn) at an evening reception during CCA’s 2017 Annual Convention. The mission of we-CCAn is to connect, educate and support the next generation of female leaders in the mobile industry, and several leading women in wireless attended the event and delivered brief remarks about the importance of promoting women in wireless. CCA’s Annual Convention takes place October 25-27 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Over the coming year, we-CCAn plans to host professional development and networking events at CCA’s annual shows for women including, for example, improving their public speaking, negotiation, and self-promotion skills. The overarching goal is to promote women in the mobile industry – raising their profiles and enhancing their professional opportunities.
“We’re very excited about the official launch of we-CCAn, which was formed from overwhelming interest from many CCA members – both women and men,” said Lucy Hodas, chair, we-CCAn Steering Committee and SVP Media and Communications for CCA. “As more women get involved in technology, and specifically mobile, there’s an incredible opportunity to expand our networks. we-CCAn will provide mentoring and training sessions that will encourage and support women taking on leadership roles in their companies, within CCA, and in the mobile industry. We are delighted with the industry support that we have received and look forward to developing programs for women to enhance their careers and contribute to the mobile ecosystem.”
“I am always happy to support events that promote and empower women in the mobile industry,” said Kathleen Ham, Vice President, Federal Regulatory Affairs of T-Mobile. “T-Mobile is proud to include women as part of our leadership team, including Callie Field, EVP of Customer Care, who delivered keynote remarks at the Annual Convention. The more women are involved and interested in mobile, and technology in general, the more diverse our industry, which I truly believe benefits everyone. Congratulations to CCA for the launch of we-CCAn, and I look forward to seeing its initiatives flourish.”
More than 100 industry leaders attended the we-CCAn reception at Texas de Brazil. Event sponsors included: Brightstar, Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP, Hogan Lovells, SouthernLINC, Teltech, T-Mobile, The Time Group and ZTE.
