Washington, D.C., August 8, 2016 – As the mobile industry begins planning pathways to 5G, competitive carriers will join thought leaders in the technology, infrastructure, media and regulatory fields to discuss the trends that will drive new mobile offerings when Competitive Carriers Association’s (CCA) Annual Convention opens at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, September 20-22. The Keynote program and educational sessions will focus on technology and business approaches that help carriers maximize their current network infrastructure while looking ahead to the future.

The keynote program will offer attendees a glimpse into the current regulatory landscape with the opportunity to hear from the leaders shaping the policies impacting carriers, infrastructure providers and consumers.
On Tuesday, September 20 at Noon PST, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and Commissioner Mignon Clyburn will deliver keynote remarks. Immediately following, Mike Sievert, COO, T-Mobile US will address attendees.
At 1:00 pm PST a CEO Roundtable will examine policies, business challenges and opportunities facing competitive carriers as the mobile industry landscape evolves. Panelists include: Michael Prior, president & CEO, ATN International; Patrick Riordan, president & CEO, Cellcom; Hu Meena, president & CEO, C Spire; and Slayton Stewart, CEO, Carolina West Wireless. The discussion will be moderated by Maggie Reardon, senior writer, CNET.
On Wednesday morning September 21, beginning at 8:00 am PST, Steven K. Berry, president and CEO of CCA, will address attendees followed by remarks from FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai.
At 8:30 am PST the Keynote panel, “Roadmap to a Connected World,” will feature Tamara Casey, CTO, Ligado; Manish Jindahl, VP, Head of Strategy Development & Portfolio Management, Ericsson; Dr. Nermin Mohamed, VP, Solutions and Marketing, Huawei American Carrier Business Group; Michael Murphy, Global 5G Head of Technology, Nokia. Chetan Sharma, founder & president, Chetan Sharma Consulting will moderate. Panelists will discuss the technology and business considerations for carriers as they embrace and plan for IoT services.
At 9:15 am PST Steven K. Berry will host a fireside chat with John Stanton, a wireless industry pioneer and chairman of Trilogy International Partners.
FierceWireless Executive Breakfast: The future of spectrum for 5G wireless
FierceWireless will host an Executive Breakfast, with a panel entitled, “From 600MHz to Millimeter Wave: The Future of Spectrum for 5G Wireless,” on Tuesday, September 20. The discussion, moderated by Monica Alleven, editor of FierceWirelessTech, will feature executives from some of mobile’s leading companies including, Ericsson North America, Huawei Technologies USA, Sprint, T-Mobile US and U.S. Cellular. The panel will discuss ways carriers can maximize network resources and smart strategies for utilizing spectrum bands once considered off-limits.
This year’s CCA Convention will feature a conference program and an exhibit floor that will explores solutions on how networks may accommodate the latest applications and how future network builds will compliment the next generation of products and services. Conference sessions will highlight business strategies to support devices and connected services, managing customer expectations, maximizing social media, meeting regulatory requirements, 5G, RAN of the future and enterprise opportunities.
